September 29th, 2020. The idea had been bubbling around for a while when I posted this invitation.

By the close of the year with the incredible contributors from nine artists we had ten tracks that cover orchestral industrial chaos, dadaist poetry & horror film drone scapes.

The greatest surprise in all of this is that, as one of the contributors noted, it hangs together as a coherent homogeneous whole.

Those not familiar with the Surrealist game ‘Exquisite Corpse’ should have a look at this article.

“Exquisite Corpse hinged on free play, unpredictability, and collaboration—forces Surrealists routinely used to [disrupt] the waking mind’s penchant for order,”

In this project the musicians provided a part for a guide sound/rhythm without connection to any of the other contributors ideas. Every piece submitted has then been edited together in-order to make each part as audible as possible. The result is dizzying.

The Ensemble De Cadavres Exquis was dreamt into existence.

 

 

The result of this experiment is now available from your favourite cassette purveying net label Submarine Broadcasting Company. There is a very limited number of cassettes with numbered Obi bands as well as digital DL.
