The Fifth Sun is a new EP of IsoHop tracks, because if there isn’t a genre that appeals, why not invent one.

It was inspired by a brief and social & digitally distanced exchange with Antonella Eye Porcelluzzi about the Age of Aquarius. Whilst the GOB isn’t a particularly spiritual or esoteric type, ‘The Hand’ (self proclaimed guru) is, so was persuaded to do the research and design styling.

The title and track come from the Aztec Apocalypse myths around the cycles of creation & recreation.

The song Metal Rat Hop of course comes from our current Chinese Zodiac Year. The Hand gleefully trawled the internet for new year predictions that may have signposted our current predicament;

Rats in the Year of the Rat (2020)

Although a zodiac’s year is traditionally the most unfortunate, laden with bad omens and mishaps, 2020 will perform reasonably well for the Rat. Success will come in the form of career; celebrate the fact that your efforts will be rewarded and seen. On the other hand, your health and relationships will prove to be a struggle. Visit your doctor at the first sign of illness, and work toward creating a loving, open environment for all of your relationships. The year will have its issues, but the positive factors can turn it around.

The curse of living through these strange and interesting times, I would not have previously considered producing anything approaching a lo-fi hip-hop album of apocalypse tunes.
